It also has better boss fights I think (apart from a few annoying QTEs here and there).Īnd it has Vernon Roche, the greatest character ever (apparently some ppl like Iorweth too). There's a pretty big leap in both looks and mechanics between W1 and W2, so the foundation of W3 is clearly visible in W2. It is much more similar to W3 (apart from the open world). It's a proper long adventure with some great characters and it has by far the best atmosphere imo. Personally I think Witcher 1 is a great game. You can find gameplay vids on youtube to see how it looks. So no dodging or rolling and all of that stuff. It's more focussed on choosing combat style and then timing attacks to link them together in a sort of constant whirl. The combat system is definitely its own thing, but I'd say it's not so much about it having aged poorly, as it is that it was pretty different back then as well.

I suppose it depends on how long you've been gaming and how cool you are with older looking graphics. It is a much older game after all, but personally I think it looks just fine, and pretty cool in its own way. The graphics are obviously nowhere near W3, nor W2 for that matter. It seems that its mainly the combat system that people point to, besides the graphics of course. Witcher 1 seems to get alot of slag by people thinking it has aged poorly and so on.
